What are the different types of mattress?  

The main types of mattress are open coil, pocket spring, memory foam, latex and hybrid (usually a combination of foam and spring).   

Open coil mattresses have a spring unit that is one piece.  A lower cost technology to deliver support and ideal for anyone on a budget. 

Pocket springs are individual springs that react independently to your body and its movements.  Delivering better comfort and support, they are more expensive but a must if you want a traditional feeling luxury mattress. 

Memory foam is a thermodynamic, pressure relieving material.  Originally developed by NASA, memory foam reacts to body heat to adapt perfectly to your body to reduce pain and give optimal support.  Whether on its own, or paired with springs, memory foam is a great technology for anyone needing pressure relief. 

Latex is a natural material, sustainably harvested from rubber trees and turned into a wonderful pressure relieving layer that has a more ‘springy’ feel than foam.    Naturally anti-allergenic it is ideal for allergy sufferers too.
